We Are Back for the 2026-2027 Season and Welcome You!

Dear Loyal Subscribers,

Time sure does fly when one is having fun. I can't believe my first season as Artistic Director has come to pass, and I am now writing to give you a peek at our next season. What I can promise is that Season 38 will be filled with music that warms the heart and feeds the soul. I am incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to invite dear friends to join me in sharing this music with you.

The first concert features two very accomplished and award-winning Korean-American string players: Siwoo Kim, violinist, and Sydney Lee, cellist. You read that right. No piano. Just monumental duos played by virtuoso musicians. There might even be a Bach suite or two thrown in for good measure.

My worlds will collide at the second concert in a Memphis Chamber Music Society collaboration with Fil-Am Music Foundation, a nonprofit I founded in 2018 dedicated to promoting Filipino-American musicians through music and education. We are featuring three of the top violinists from the Philippines currently studying in the United States for a little "Fiddle Fest."

I am delighted to finally introduce my rockstar cellist friend Santiago Cañón Valencia, who has been making waves since winning the Queen Elisabeth Cello Competition, as well as the Tchaikovsky Competition. He and I will be giving a preview of his Carnegie Hall Recital Debut in November.

Two MCMS favorites, violinist Basil Alter and cellist Alexander Hersh, and I will team up to offer groundbreaking repertoire for the piano trio. Tickets will surely sell like hotcakes for this one. For the first time in over a decade, you will be treated to an afternoon of great four-hand piano music. Leading British pianist Daniel "Danny" Driver and yours truly are performing music by Gershwin and Ravel, among others.

At the grand finale, we are bringing back stellar artists from last season to perform French masterworks in a home inspired by Le Petit Trianon at Versailles. Violinist Joshua Brown, who opened last season, will be joined by the Vega String Quartet and myself in the monumental Concerto for Violin, Piano, and String Quartet by Chausson, preceded by Ravel's second Violin Sonata and Debussy's String Quartet.

I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to seeing you next September and sharing what promises to be another fantastic concert season.

Cheers to you all,

Victor Santiago Asunción
